Noor is Arab by blood, raised in a multicultural adopted homeland. Like many Arabs today. She represents an Arab youth exposed to a global culture that is becoming increasingly Westernized, who gobbles up information about heroes that don’t (always) resemble them, and is inspired by the foreign that has become universal, unaware of the rich history and identity of the region they come from.

Noor’s Heroes™ was created to bring light to this very heritage.

This series of books showcases women and men from, or influenced by, the Arab world, from today and yesterday, who have made a difference, followed their dreams, and earned their place on the universal list of heroes. Noor’s Heroes™ presents individuals who inspire and ignite a sense of wonder in all of us, and who have added to the richness of our culture and given back to the community.

Every book in the series is an adventure into the lives and accomplishments of these heroes, told through the captivating words of Myrna Ayad [link to The Author page] and the charming illustrations of a variety of enthusiastic designers from the Arab world and elsewhere.

Each book reframes the story of the Arab world and its influences by generating interest, love, and respect for heroes who should be celebrated in every household around the globe. Noor’s Heroes™ aims to instil a sense of awareness and pride in young children, nurture their sense of wonder, and encourage them to follow their dreams.

The series is named after the author’s daughter, Noor, whose name means light in Arabic and several languages, and her quest to find heroes in everyday life. Noor’s Heroes™ is published in separate editions of Arabic and English, and while both versions celebrate iconic individuals, the Arabic intends to encourage and promote the language, and the English focuses on raising awareness and increasing the global reach of these luminaries.
